Happy Tuesday, Rebels!
I wanted to share some principles from the book, “The Go-Giver,” by Bob Burg and John David Mann, with you that radically changed my paradigm about how to be successful.
To boil it all down for you, the secret to success is giving.
Giving?? I was perplexed by this idea as well. However, if my mentor had asked me to read this book, I knew that the stuff in it was important.
As I started to grow my publishing company and develop the Millennial Rebel brand as well, I began to wrap my head around the principles in this book that are universal to achieving success. So here I am, sharing them with you, so that you may and achieve success in whatever you want in life!
Think about the saying, “treat others how you would want to be treated.” Therefore, if you want to see a lot of money, respect, or influence–then give a lot of value.
Let’s dive into the 5 Laws of Stratospheric Succes talked about in this book.
Success Principle #1–The Law of Value
“Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.”
Think about it like this: You’re a consumer looking for an incredible laptop. A seller provides you with one that you absolutely love, does everything that you want it to, but offers it at a BARGAIN price–wouldn’t you feel great?
As a seller, having your customer feel great about your service is your number one goal. In order to do that, however, providing more value than what you take in payment required.
Success Principle #2–The Law of Compensation
” Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.”
Using the same example with the laptop, imagine leaving that same experience–purchasing an incredible laptop at a bargain price–with people all around the world.
If you want more success, find a way to serve more people.
Success Principle #3–The Law of Influence
“Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first.”
So you’ve provided an incredible laptop that people love, to people all around the world, placing your service as extremely valuable. You’re rewarded with fortune and praise.
However, you’re hearing that customers wish your laptop had a touchscreen. You then go on and create a second edition of that laptop or a different model altogether that has a touch screen. Because you were able to place other people’s interests first, which in this case was having a touchscreen laptop, people love your service to the point that they’re telling their friends and family about it!
Voila! You have now increased your influence, attracting more people to want your service!
Success Principle #4–The Law of Authenticity
“The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.”
You have now provided incredible value at a price people all around the world are thrilled about, and have increased your influence by listening to what they want.
How can you provide even more value? Align your service with who you are authentically.
Just how Redbull inspires bravery and North Face inspires adventure, when people can connect with the authentic core of your service–along with implementing the other laws–you’ve hit the jackpot!
Success Principle #5–The Law of Receptivity
“The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.”
This last law is ESSENTIAL to achieving success. It doesn’t matter if you go above and beyond with the previous laws if you aren’t open to receiving the rewards.
Pretty simple, right? However, you’d be surprised by how many people limit themselves with beliefs about what success can do to them in terms of having too much money, attention, or responsibility.
Always remember that implementing these laws are a gift to the world.
There you have it folks–the 5 Laws of Stratospheric Success. I highly recommend you check out “The Go-Giver,” a great story that revolves around these laws.
